Camp Story 2018

Yah! It is boot camp 2018 I’m so excited after it was delayed. Then it was time to go to school. We drove to school at a steady speed because we weren't in a hurry. When we got to school we heard the bell ring we all went to our lines and got our mascot.

After that we got into cars and went out to Te Wera. I went with Iain Sextus. Just as quickly as we got there we were  told to go to our cabins, ours was called the kereru. Suddenly we rushed inside, we tried the beds they were comfy. My sleeping buddies were Jessica and Madison they were funny. After that we were told we don't need to use our closet and the rules I was very nervous about them.We talked about things like after lights out we had to go to sleep and room inspections, so we have to have our rooms, beds and clothes tidy. After that we were told about having 10 minutes before bed and about stickers that you can get private, Sergeant, lieutenant and captain. We were also told about sleeping bags, toys and torch's.

After that it was time to go to Rotokare. First we went on the walk. We learned about birds like the hihi and watching the birds at the feeding posts. Seeing the lake and the fish was so cool. We also saw this kahikatea tree it was humongous. When we got back we went into the classroom and learned about predators and traps we also learned about lizards, and the wall of defence. We also made a animal. After that we went to the bush classroom. We did all these activities they were called find the birds nest, what birds eat, a bug station and bird habitats.

Then we toasted marshmallows the first one I did was burnt then Roxy came over and gave me another on, luckily I didn’t burn it this time. Once they were cooked Roxy would come along and put them inside the biscuits because the wire was very hot.

At camp I liked toasting the marshmallows the best I also liked finding out what our cabins looked like. The other thing I liked was going to Rotokare especially going on the walks and birds.

Our learning intention was to use different sentence starters so our work is interesting.
