New handwriting goal

My new handwriting goal is to keep on sloping my letters consistently and also working on the size of my letters.

To achieve this goal I am going to practice everyday at school and at home.

Interview questionaire

Parent Interviews - Yearly Reflections

My writing goal is (have you changed it, why?) -  My new writing goal is to start to attempt more difficult punctuation - apostrophes for possession, commas for clauses, semicolons and ellipses I have changed it to this because I think I need to have another goal.

I practise this by - Doing a lot of vocabulary work in class and also doing writing  in my own time that is how I have got to the stage I am at now.

A piece of writing I am proud of is - My bike safety recount because it is a very interesting story and I also put a lot of effort into it.

In maths I am currently learning (how do you feel about this, what are your next steps? Give your parents a rundown of what we do as well) - We are learning how to solve subtraction and addition word problems by stacking I feel that it is making me a lot smarter my next step would be to do stacking but with multiplication problems.

Reading - Share your reading work (talk about some of the things you do in reading.) Over the last few weeks in reading we have been researching about the rainforest to warm our self up about researching for our businesses.

Do you have any other goals you would like to share, what are you doing to achieve them? My handwriting goal which is to keep on sloping my letters consistently and also working on the size of my letters. To achieve this goal I am going to do it everyday at school and home.

Pick 3 more pieces of work from your blog (write why you are going to share them and what you were learning to do)
-Bike safety because it is a interesting recount and I want to show it to my family.
-Handwriting Reflection because it reflects on what I have been improving on in handwriting .
-Calf and lamb day reflection because it will show my family what I think about a calf and lamb day.

New Writing Goal

Goal - My new writing goal is to start to attempt more difficult punctuation - apostrophes for possession, commas for clauses, semicolons and ellipses.

I chose this goal because I need to start using it in my writing and also because I think it will make my writing better.

End of year Reflection

What has been the best part of 2017 for you
My best part of 2017 was going  to Konini lodge because we learnt a lot about the wildlife and got to do a lot of challenges.

What is something you have been proud of in 2017?
I am proud of being in charge of the chickens because it is a very big and responsible job.

What do you think that good learners do?
Good learners listen to the instructions and they also finish their  work on time. They get a high place in exams and they also give me five to the teachers.

What is one way that you show that in class?
Always listening and and not getting distracted or mucking around. They don’t listen to other people on the mat and they concentrate.

What is one Toko Learning Star that you would like to work on and why?
I would like work on Learning to Learn because I want to work on searching for information because I am not very good at it.

What is one learning goal you are currently working on, what are you doing to achieve it?
I am working on sloping my letters consistently and doing neatness and care in presentation in my handwriting. I am doing this by taking my time and sloping my letters consistently.

If you were going to give yourself a message for learning in 2018, what would it be?
It would be to try my hardest in math even when it gets hard.

Bike Safety

Bike safety with Senior Jono

Goal- Recount what you learned at bike safety
- Always use poetic language to add description.

Bike safety was on the seventh of  November with Senior Jono, one of the police it was at Toko School.

First Jono showed us all the safety parts of the  bike, he also told us that it is a 55 dollar fine if you cycle on the footpath and if you don’t have a helmet on and your cycling without a helmet it is also a 55 dollar fine. Jono also talked to us about what the holes in the helmet for they are there to get more air into your head when you are sweating. He also did a skid on the carpet because we needed to know what you need to do when you need to stop in a hurry.

Then we went out onto the the court that felt like it was on  fire we went out there because we were going to do some riding around a roundabout and doing work on hand signals the signals were stop, indicating to the right and indicating to the left.

Next we learned that you need to have reflectors on your bike at night.
After that we went out onto the back field to do some racing on the back field first we did a slow race it was very hard to stay stable Sam won that one. Next it was the fast race I came about seventh and Declan came first.

Finally we put our bikes and helmet over by the bike area. I think bike safety was  fun and I learnt quite a lot from it.

That really stinks story

Goal- Choose and retell my own story
-Write a story with a clear beginning, middle and end
- Always use poetic language to add description

  • Sam is play on his sisters phone on a farting app then he kept laughing
  • Then suddenly long slimy tentacles came out of the toilet and it got the phone from Sam because it heard Sam laughing
  • But then when it got the phone and went down the toilet Sam flushed himself down the toilet into the sewers
  • He got a ride on a crocodile to catch up to the sewer monster
  • Then he got into the sewage monsters cave sewage monster about a agreement it was if I have the iPhone back then he would show the sewage monster and his family a even funnier trick
  • He put his arm under his armpit and did a fart
  • Then the sewage monsters laughed at him
  • And then that is how they became friends

Sam was playing on his sisters phone on a farting app to think that his family would think he was on the toilet. He kept doing that and cracking up every time he did it but he didn't notice a long slimy tentacle coming out of the toilet, it was long, it was also very green. It came out because the sewage monster had heard him play the farting noises on the iPhone. So it leaned out of the toilet and grabbed the iPhone out of Sam’s hand and then he flushed himself down the toilet so Sam flushed himself down the toilet as well and into the sewers.

When he was in the sewers he hopped onto the nearest crocodile and chased the sewer monster into it’s cave. Then when he got into the cave he had to be extra quiet. But when he peeped behind a boulder the sewer monster saw him so he had to come out of his hiding place. When he came out the monster gave him a scary grin it was very scary. But then he decided to do a deal “if you give back my sisters iPhone then I will something even funnier so he did he did a armpit fart and the sewage monsters cracked  up laughing and tried doing it and it worked. So from that day on they became best ever friends.

Robot lawn mower story

Runaway Robot Rampage – Complete story animated video from Ministry of Education on Vimeo.

Goal: Use poetic language to add description.
-Retell a story in my own words.
-Develop a creative conclusion.

Every week  Hemi’s dad told him to mow the  lawns. He had to do it by the weekend otherwise he would not get his pocket money for that week. Hemi said to himself  “ I would rather be making my latest robot invention than mowing the lawns”. That was it, Hemi decided to go and to the shed and try and try and make a robot that would mow the lawns for him.

So he went to find the tools he would use he picked a blender, some steak
knives, his dad’s nose hair trimmer, a old computer, some old scissors, a laser and some old guitar strings to tie it all up. “Right” said Hemi  “lets get this thing started”. So he stayed up all night and made his first invention. But it blew up when he tried it. So he had to stay up the rest of the night making another robot. In the morning when he had to do the lawns he pushed out his mystery invention onto the lawn. When he had uncovered it he got the control out then he pressed down the word lawn mower then he presses the word go and the invention starts mowing the lawns by itself. He then went and grabbed a deck chair and some lemonade and he sat down on the deck chair and he drifted off to sleep to the sound of the lawn mower. After an hour of sleeping  he woke up to the sound of shouting and he couldn't see his robot lawn mower anywhere “oh what has my robot  lawn mower done”.

So he went of to the neighbours and saw his robot lawn mower there so he went over and saw the lady screaming “it’s cut all my grass” “did you want your grass cut” “ well I did want my grass cut”. Then Hemi pushed the button stop when it came near him. But just then Hemi got an idea what if I made some more robot lawn mower. So Hemi decided to sell robot lawn mowers and he got very rich.

Calendar art Reflection

Goal - Produce a piece of art using mixed media.

What I did - First I did a background of yellow orange and red then we diluted it with water because they were very strong colours. Then we waited for it to dry. Once I knew it was dry I drew my trees and background, then I painted it with black Indian ink paint. When it dried we did our leaves and fruit on the tree. Finally we got our pictures taken with a book then they were printed and cut out and stacked with a glue stick on to our paper then we were finished.

What I liked - I liked how I painted my tree because I did it with nice thin brush strokes.
